“When Privates Go Public” Premieres On Valentine’s
Day
MTV News special “Sexting in America: When Privates Go Public” is set to premiere on Valentine’s Day as part of MTV’s A Thin Line campaign to stop the spread of digital abuse. And before the show, Boys Like Girls, Michelle Trachtenberg, All Time Low and Asher Roth have teamed up with MTV to inform people about serious harm sexting, cyberbullying and online harassment can cause.
Trachtenberg and Roth will host an interactive quiz that will launch next week on AThinLine.org. Boys Like Girls and All Time Low will appear in short digital clips about digital abuse that will go live on the site on Wednesday.
The special will take an in-depth look at the recent rise of “sexting” in pop culture, including in the celebrity world. It will also take an in-depth look at the frequency and consequences of sending or forwarding nude, sexually suggestive or explicit pictures on your cell or online. It will explore why some teens and young adults hit “forward” instead of “delete.”
In addition to the celebrity participants in the special, young people will talk openly about sexting. The special will look at real-life stories from people like Ally, whose reputation was destroyed after sexting her ex-boyfriend, and Phillip, who was charged with child pornography after forwarding photos of his underage girlfriend and is slated to remain on the sex-offender registry until he’s 43 years old.
A Thin Line works to stop the spread of digital abuse. A recent MTV and AP study found that three in 10 young people have sent or received nude “sext” messages, and over 60 percent of those who sent a nude photo reporting that they were pressured to do so at least once. Additionally, the research found that those who have sexted are four times more likely to have considered suicide.
Over 75 percent of young people state that digital abuse is a serious problem for people their age. However, few consider the more serious consequences and risks of their behavior, with only 51 percent believing that their digital actions could come back to haunt them, and only 25 percent considering that these actions could have legal consequences.
The MTV News special “Sexting in America: When Privates Go Public,” premieres Sunday, February 14, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Paper Tongues Have Randy Jackson To Thank
Before the Paper Tongues got a record deal from “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson, the guys were just a band with a silly name. And now that they’ve acquired a considerable amount of buzz in the music industry, people can’t help but wonder how they got that silly sounding name.
“It honestly started off as two names in a hat. We couldn’t come up with anything at all, so we just wrote down words that sounded good phonetically, pulled them out, mixed everything around and came up with Paper Tongues,” guitarist Devin Forbes explained.
Forbes also wasn’t ashamed to admit that by sheer coincidence, they almost accidentally named themselves after the Kings of Leon. “It’s really funny. I still laugh about this ’cause one of the band names we were thinking of calling it was Kings of Leoness. And none of us had any idea who the Kings of Leon were,” he explained. “We did not know there was a band called Kings of Leon. It was, like, five years ago, and then we found out they were a huge band.”
So, with a band name and demo all ready to go, it was only a matter of time before the guys got discovered. And unlike many “American Idol” hopefuls, all the guys had to do was just happen to run into Randy Jackson in order to land a record deal. No snippy Simon Cowell moments for these guys.
“Me and my buddies saw him [at a restaurant in Los Angeles]. We walked outside, I got a valet dude to give me a piece of paper, wrote down my MySpace and my cell phone number, took it back over to him, and the rest is history,” lead singer Aswan North explained. “I kind of startled him a little bit. I just got really amped. Two hours later, homeboy called me back. It was amazing when he called in two hours. We were all pretty startled.”

Katy Perry Is Ready To ‘Ditch’ Her Career
As the “American Idol” auditions continue making their way around the country, we’ve seen celebrity guest judges like Mary J. Blige and Shania Twain helping Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi find the next big thing.
On Tuesday night (January 26), Katy Perry and Avril Lavigne sat in on . We caught up with Perry after the audition episodes were taped to see how her guest-judging stint went.
“I make ‘em cry all the time,” Perry joked to MTV News. “The ‘American Idol’ experience was awesome. If I was offered that job as a permanent host, I would ditch my career and take on that career.”
Perry said she didn’t actually cause anyone to tear up, but she did have a great time during the experience. “It’s kind of like judging a talent show,” she said. ” ‘American Idol’ was great fun. It was so easy. I didn’t really make anybody cry, but I did tell the truth to some kids that might have needed to hear it.”
Judging the audition rounds is the easy part, Perry said. She’s just glad she doesn’t have to make the really tough decisions during Hollywood Week and beyond. “I guess the pressure gets really on when you start eliminating the number of people that are going through,” she said. “Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, and then you’ve got the final two. That can be kind of tense and stressful.”

Tune In As SimplyHitMakers Interview R&B Singer
Jamison
SHM: So tell everybody your name and what area you represent?
Jamison: My name is JAMISON aka JAM-IS-ON and I’m from Detroit, Mi
SHM:Ok, Ok How long have you been doing music and what made you get into music?
Jamison: I’ve been “doing” music for about 10-12yrs, I started off as a musician (a drummer to be exact) but what made me get into it was my parents they were both professional gospel singers and after a while being at all the rehearsals, soundchecks, and touring with them it just happened (from the musician stand point) now as an artist it’s just natural “some say your born to do what you do” and I believe them.
SHM:10-12yrs that really shows dedication to your craft that’s defiantly what’s up…. So how would you describe your style and why?
Jamison: I would describe it as R&B, alternative, soul. The reason is I’m cultured rhythm & blues but because of my eclectic views in musicianship and writing styles drops the hint of alternative, and my voice or my vocal sound infuses the soul “I mean I was a gospel singer first”…. lol
SMH:HAHA yea your right about that…. Let me ask you though do you write your own music? If so what are your inspirations?
Jamison: Yes! of course it’s very hard for me as a “creator of art” not be committed to the full creative process which to me starts with writing. Now my inspirations are mainly my life personally “I’ve been hurt, tragically” and “I’ve been in some really high places” so my music reflects that, and I share that with my team so they can feed off of it during writing collaborations “so it’s all me”.
SHM: That’s good because there’s not to many singers out their writing there own stuff that’s why I had to ask…. Ok Jamison if you had the opportunity who would you want to collaborate with in the music industry and why?
Jamison: My first round pick would have to be Pharrell Williams, his ideas that come off the top of his head are ridiculous (pure genius) , next would be Dwele that soul sound influenced with my alternative ideas would be uncanny, and third would be Melonie Fiona because her sound and lyrics are those of true emotion and musical passion, and not just her single but her previous work and album presentation.
SHM: Pharrell Williams is defiantly a talented individual with all of the hits he has under his belt… So Where do you see yourself a year from now?
Jamison: Just at the start of my industry explosion, with a new deal for myself and an avenue to introduce the world to the driving force behind me “MY TEAM”/company otherwise known as TEAM J MUSIC GROUP
SHM:This is true teamwork makes the dream work…. Now let me ask you Jamison. What makes you stand out from other artist?
Jamison: My artistic authenticity my level of musicianship and my writing style or lyrical content, plus my team that require only the best quality from me or you will never here it (lol)
SHM:I hear that. So what are some of the challenges you encountered through out your career? How did you overcome them?
Jamison: Basically breaking in again as an R&B artist because the markets are over saturated with manufactured hits, formulas and gimmicks. So I overcame it by creating a sound that can’t be denied by any market and backing it all up with real artistry through content delivery, production, or clever arrangements.
SHM:You’re right it’s sad but true. So what are you working on now and when can fans expect to hear more from you?
Jamison: Now we are just coming off of the very successful “RYDA” campaign (Thank you so much for your involvement SHM) and we are gearing up for the widely anticipated second single “SLIDE NEXT TO ME” and my first EP titled “… I Feel” due out this season. Also we are currently developing my third mixtape titled “The R.E.A.L. Experience vol. 3″ [RE 3] so we are pretty busy these days …. lol
SHM: No Problem man keep the hits coming and we’ll keep Showcasing you on our site….But were defiantly going to need a copy of that mixtape because I already know its going to be fira. But anyway how can Industry Professionals and Fans get in contact with you in the future?
Jamison: The BEST way to get at me is on Twitter “I am always on twitter” @iamjamison or myspace.com/myjamisonworld, on youtube at youtube.com/jamisonworld or you can always email me at bookingjamison@gmail.com feel free I’m waiting to hear from you! (Myspace, Email, Number etc.)?
SHM: Ok before we go do you have any shout outs?
Jamison: Yeah! I would love to acknowledge the creator for the blessings also my team (TJMG/STUDIO JUNKIES/BSBRANDS) my PR Attica Lundy, Sean Blaque, CSM, and all the friends and family that have been supporting me (because if you support me your not a “fan” you’re my friend) THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! We are just getting started “CHESS MOVES”

Mariah Carey’s Angels Advocate Release Date Pushed
Back
Mariah Carey’s latest release, Angels Advocate, is being pushed back from February 23 to March 9. The album, a remixed version of Carey’s 2009 LP Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, will feature appearances from Swizz Beatz and Christopher “Tricky” Stewart, as well as Trey Songz, R. Kelly, T-Pain, Gucci Mane and OJ Da Juiceman.
The news first broke on MariahJournal.com. Rapup.com further reports that Ne-Yo will appear on the track “Angels Cry” and Nicki Minaj will be on “Up Out My Face.” This isn’t the first time in recent months that one of Carey’s releases has been pushed back. Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel was originally slated for a September 15 release and later got moved to September 29.
Late last year, Stewart spoke to Rapup.com about the direction of the remix album and the tracks he hoped to work on with Carey. He said, “I’m gonna do a remix to ‘I Want to Know What Love Is’ myself. I’mma raise the tempo up. I’mma try to make it into something else. … Once I get the beat and if it calls for the right person, I can get anybody on the phone I want to right now, so I will be using my Rolodex for that.”
Carey is currently on her Angels Advocate Tour, which is set to wrap up on February 27 at the Pearl Concert Theater in Las Vegas. And she may have won a People’s Choice Award for Favorite R&B Artist, but she recently has been making headlines for her work in “Precious.” She was honored at the Palm Springs International Film Festival gala, and after a tipsy, giggly acceptance speech, she later admitted she had had a bit too many “splashes of champagne.”

Rivers Cuomo Gets Doctor’s OK To Play With Weezer
Again
A month after he was hospitalized following an early morning tour bus crash, Weezer singer Rivers Cuomo announced Thursday that he has gotten a doctor’s OK to get back on the road.
“Doctor says my lung is all healed — cleared to fly to Florida for the show,” Cuomo tweeted. “Turns out I broke 5 ribs!!!”
Weezer are scheduled to perform as part of a T-Mobile contest Wednesday at Florida State University in Tallahassee, their only gig before the spring/summer tour that’s in the works, according to an update on their label’s Web site. Their next scheduled appearance is May 1 at the Bamboozle festival in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The original batch of Raditude dates was slated to wrap up Friday (January 15) in Phoenix.
Earlier in the week, Cuomo told fans on Twitter it was likely the band would make it to the U.K. this summer for some shows, and he promised that Weezer would make up all seven gigs they had to cancel in the wake of the crash.
Cuomo cracked his ribs and suffered a spleen injury and a small lung puncture in the December 6 bus crash in upstate New York in the midst of a tour in support of their latest album, Raditude. After a week in the hospital, Cuomo took a bus ride back to Los Angeles to convalesce after doctors ordered him not to fly due to the damage to his lung.
The singer also revealed that he’s been writing “quite a few GREAT songs during this unexpected break time.” They apparently include a new tune Cuomo said the band started recording Tuesday for the upcoming “Shrek: The Final Chapter” movie, which is due in May.

Avatar Sales Is Breaking Records
Los Angeles – Avatar ruled the worldwide box office for a fourth weekend on Sunday, creeping closer to the all-time record held by writer/director James Cameron’s earlier effort Titanic, distributor 20th Century Fox said on Sunday.
Cameron’s 3-D sci-fi epic earned $191.5m over the weekend, taking its global total to $1.3bn.
Avatar passed the $1.12bn tally of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King last Wednesday to become the second-highest worldwide release ever, trailing only Titanic with worldwide sales of $1.84bn in 1997-1998. Data are not adjusted for inflation, and Avatar sales are also inflated by premium prices for 3-D screenings.
The North American contribution rose to $429m, with weekend sales of $48.5m propelling the movie to the No 7 slot in the record books.
Fox, a unit of News Corp, said it expects Avatar to challenge the 2008 Batman sequel The Dark Knight ($533m) for the No 2 slot. Titanic holds the US Canada title with $601m.
Avatar set a new record for fourth-weekend sales, having already set new marks for its second and third weekends. The film is enjoying strong holds every weekend as fans return for repeat viewings and occasional moviegoers show up to see what the fuss is all about.
The last film to enjoy four consecutive weekends at No 1 wasThe Dark Knight . Titanic was tops for a record 15 consecutive weekends.

Joe Jonas Plans Haiti Trip, Stars Offer Support At
Critics’ Choice Awards
At Friday’s (January 15) Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, there was plenty to talk about, from the red-carpet fashions to the night’s big winners to the rare tie that had two Best Actress recipients. Appropriately, however, no topic was more important than discussion of the recent tragedy in Haiti — and what Hollywood’s biggest stars are doing to help.
“I think I might go, to do some relief work,” revealed Joe Jonas, telling us on the red carpet that the events of the past few days have touched him deeply. “I’m going to try; I’m going to try to get there.”
On Tuesday, a 7.0-magnitude earthquake — the area’s most severe in over 200 years — devastated the country. With its epicenter near Haitian capital Port-au-Prince, widespread damage has been reported, and the death toll could reach as high as 100,000 people.
“I’m going to be doing the thing that George [Clooney] is organizing; the telethon,” explained Emily Blunt, another star throwing her support behind the fundraising program that the “Ocean’s” series star is putting together for January 22. “But I think, really, it’s just about everyone — everyone — needs to jump in. Everyone needs to get involved in whatever way they can. So, I think I’m just going to research the best way to help.”
Other celebs discussing their efforts to help Haiti at Friday’s awards show included Kevin Bacon and Sandra Bullock. Joe Jonas, however, said that simply contributing a check wasn’t enough for him.
“[I can get there] either this Tuesday or, like, two or three weeks from now. I can’t promise I’m going to go, but I’m going to try,” he insisted. “I really want to be able to support in any way I can; I was going to go to Haiti before, to do similar work there. But now it’s obviously a completely different thing and my heart goes out to those people there and the families and everything.”
With sincerity in his voice, Joe sent out a special message to the troubled area of the world and its residents. “I just pray that everybody’s all right, and I’m going to try and do my best by getting there,” he said. “And I would definitely say, if anyone can give money or support, it’s the perfect way to do it.”
